Unfortunately on Thursday 18th June, our Secretary and well loved member Clive Wooders sadly passed away. He was a very friendly and sociable man. He was notified his illness was terminal, but wanted to keep the club running for as long as he could help, and did this extremely well, with the help of his lovely wife Carole.
He was a great club player and captained the Golds in the last winter league season and the Maroons and Silvers in many before. He was also a keen outdoor bowler, and seen at many competitions in both sections of our sports. His enthusiasm for the club and bowls itself will be hugely missed. The club, its members and the bowling community would like to send their thoughts to Carole and their families at this sad time.
To all you lovely people, from Di (Luxulyan SMBC Committee Member), Carole has asked me to let you all know about Clive's funeral arrangements. He wanted a modest funeral and so there will not be a service. His body will be cremated and this will take place on 8th July at 8.25am. Following this, his ashes will be taken home to Carole. I know Clive was held in high regard by everyone & his passing is a sad loss. In memory of Clive, Carole has suggested that we all "lift a drink" to him at 8.25am on the 8th July. It may only be tea or coffee at that time, or just a moment to think of him, but never the less it shows we all care & will miss him greatly. He was a good man.
